Beware of the Ides of March!  (It’s still winter here in Northeast Ohio.)

Don’t be fooled by the unusually mild winter in northeast Ohio this year. The soothsayer's warning to Julius Caesar, "Beware the Ides of March," has forever imbued that date (March 15) with a sense of warning.

If you have not already done so, it’s still a good idea to pack your car with emergency essentials in case you're stranded.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration recommends:

  • An ice scraper, a small broom, and snow shovel.
  • Something to give you traction if you get stuck, such as a box or bag of kitty litter.
  • A flashlight and a set of jumper cables.
  • A box of flares.
  • A few blankets to keep you warm, as well as water, some non-perishable snacks, and a supply of medicine.
  • A fully-charged cell phone with at least three emergency numbers programmed on it.
